Roadmaps to success are available on nearly every subject, from guides to good business relationships to tips for healthy weight loss. But when it comes to successful sleep, you might have been left in the dark...until now.
"Sleep is such a natural part of our lives that most people take it for granted," said James Maas, sleep expert and professor of psychology at Cornell University. "But successful sleep is actually a skill that you can learn and practice. You want to make sure you're maximizing the positive impact that sleep has on your day-to-day life and your overall health and well-being."
To help Americans understand the important role sleep plays in their well being, as well as learn and practice successful sleep, Maas and NyQuil have partnered to create The 7 Sleeping Habits of Highly Effective People. An authorized adaptation of Stephen Covey's (founder of the Franklin Covey Foundation) highly acclaimed The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, this brochure identifies the seven most important habits people should develop to improve the quality of their sleep, as well as their lives.
"The truth is that the vast majority of Americans are sleep-deprived for a variety of reasons, and most people are not aware how this reduces their capabilities," said Maas, adding that one of the biggest busters of a good night's sleep is a cold or the flu. "That's why I've worked with NyQuil to develop The 7 Sleeping Habits as a guide to help people maximize the quality and quantity of their sleep, and improve the overall quality of their awake hours - especially when they're sick."
