Sleep problems may predict post-traumatic
stress disorder
People who experience problems sleeping shortly after a traumatic event may be
at risk of post-traumatic stress disorder. A study by the Rambam Medical
Center in Haifa, Israel, found that survivors of motor vehicle accidents who
develop insomnia and report excessive fatigue from the first week after their
accident are more likely to be diagnosed with the condition a year later. The
research is published in the American Journal of Psychiatry.
