Internet addiction linked to stress
Canadian researchers say that a small number of Internet users may spend hours
“cyberslacking” in order to avoid stress. A study by York University in
Toronto, Ontario, found strong links between “Internet addiction” and
procrastination and low productivity. The researchers said that, in the
workplace, this type of online procrastination was commonly known as
“cyberslacking”, and resulted in “significant losses in productivity”.
The research, which involved 60 undergraduate students, was presented at the
annual meeting of the American Psychological Association.
