Fatty Acids May Fight Dementia

The essential fats found in fish and nuts may help reduce memory loss and strokes, according to US researchers. A study by Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, targeted the effects of omega-6 fatty acid on brain function in rats. The researchers found that rats given the supplement experienced a drop in blood pressure and an increase in brain function. Previous research has shown that fatty acids, such omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are not produced by the body, are beneficial for a healthy heart.
